Membership Categories

AMPIA membership falls into five categories depending on your profession. The categories are as follows:

CATEGORY A

Fee: $467.29 + $32.71 (gst) = $ 500.00

Broadcasters, Theatrical Exhibitors, Cable and Telephone Companies, Government/Public Agencies, Foundations, Guilds, Associations, Unions, Film Commissions and Distributors.

CATEGORY B

Independent Producer

B1 Fee: $257.01+$17.99 (gst) = $ 275.00 (with eight or more full time employees)
B2 Fee: $210.28+ $14.72 (gst) = $225.00 (less than eight full time employees)

In the category of Independent Producer applicants shall include evidence of a minimum of two years’ performance in Alberta, including a record of having completed at least 60 minutes of finished productions in that time. Applicants for Active Membership who are unable to meet this criteria, shall be eligible for Active Membership if they qualify for a minimum of 15 points from any combination of the productions weighed according to the following schedule:

1. Film or video productions in the Province of Alberta in the last 4 years, including dramatic, entertainment, educational, documentary, instructional, motivational, music video or home video: for every minute of running time…2 points

2. Television commercials or public service announcements produced in the Province of Alberta in the last 4 years which have been broadcast or are acceptable for broadcast on commercial television: for each fifteen seconds of running time…2 points

CATEGORY C

Fee: $ 121.49 + $ 8.51 (gst) = $ 130.00

Industry Support Services - Training Institutions, lawyers and Law Firms, accountants and Accounting Firms, hotels, car rental companies, caterers, equipment suppliers, new media providers, etc.

CATEGORY D

Fee: $92.52 + $ 6.48 (gst) = $ 99.00

Production Personnel and Talent - Performers, writer, craftspeople, set designers, publicists, development officers, television news staff, production managers, cinematographers, directors, editors, etc.  Note:  all new applicants in this category must provide one industry reference, who must be a member of AMPIA in good standing.

CATEGORY E

Fee: $ 32.71 + $ 2.29 (gst) = $ 35.00

Students (Non-voting) Must be attending full-time. Proof of enrollment must accompany application.
